What is Business?
What is Business?
Business is how people earn money by providing goods or services others need. It creates jobs, supports communities, and keeps the economy moving. Nearly every part of daily life is connected to business in some way.
It is important to note that businesses can either be for profit, meaning they operate with the intent of generating income, or a non profit, serving the purpose of making a positive impact on society.
Examples of businesses which operate for profit include: Nike, Lululemon, and Apple
Examples of Non Profit businesses include: American Red Cross, UNICEF and Goodwill
Understanding business can help people make better decisions, and decide whether it is a path which they want to pursue. Learning how to save money, market ideas, and grow income are all ideas which are central not just to the business world, but to everyday life as well.
Every business, no matter the size, is built on the same core ideas.
What Problem/Gap are we looking to solve?
What makes this company's product or service unique?
Who do we want to sell our product to? (Known as the target market)
Money: How will we manage and decide where to spend it? ( Do we want to use it for advertising, or new products?)
How will we deliver our product/service to people?
How will we continue growing as a business?
Answering these questions is key to building a successful business and creating a solid plan.
From grocery stores to transportation, business is a part of everyday life and can be found all around us. The decisions made can affect prices, availability, and quality of life. Understanding how these systems work helps increase individual participation in the economy.
